How I love proper meals...

Tagliolini al nero di seppia con frutti di mare

Carpaccio di pesce spada con patate

Fragole con panna... probably cheaper than at Wimbledon :P

:D *slurp*

(but yeah, close-up mode does not work well on my cameraphone :( )

There's something fishy about all of that... apart from the dessert. :)

Yum indeed.

ROFLMAO... well, getting back to the other thread, if she doesn't kiss the ring/kow tow to old Red Socks, our Squeaky is going to be reduced to a Diet of Worms.

(For those who think I'm truly on crack, read up on your religious history.)

;)

I'm not used to black pasta but I'm used to tagliolini so they were tagliolini right away for me :P

Oh, I undergo Diets of Worms every day... hopefully I'll always be able to be as stubborn as Martin *hugs Martin*

Well, I'd have been scared if you hadn't got it!

Do they make the black pasta with squid ink? (I seem to recall something about that - spinach for green, which would suit me much better! LOL) Enough with the frutti di mare, I'll just have the strawberries, thank you very much.

I'm allergic to corporate America. :(

Yes I think it's squid ink. But what about carpaccio? It's one of my favorite dishes. It was the first time I ate swordfish carpaccio and I'll never forget it :D ;)

At this combined eating and (non) working-out rate I'll gain 10 kilos in the next year :P

I tried swordfish once - it was actually pretty damn good.

Spank said...

I find its flavour a bit sharp for me...

not sure about the black stuff but the next to look to tast good

Spank said...

Maybe the 2nd photo is the "before" picture and the 1st photo is the "after" picture.. :D j/k ;)

Bumsby said...

I don't like so much swordfish as I like carpaccio... *slurp*

Bumsby said...

The flavour is a bit sharp, that's why they added potatoes *drools*

It was smoked on top of that *wipes chin*

Vermont is still in cherry season. I'm in a condo w/ a kitchen (I prefer that) so I went to a market and discovered they still had cherries. They're so good.

I haven't had swordfish in ages, and I think the kind of Italian food we have in LA isn't really Italian food. One of my favorite restaurants in Pasadena is supposedly Italian food, but I wonder if it is very Americanized.

Unknown said...

You're absolutely spot on, Mary. The food over here is very different: heavier, much more fat & salt & spiced up the wazoo.

The food in Italy is much simpler, lighter, and (IMHO) tastier. (Not to mention healthier!)

Spank said...

That's true of the UK as well, as you know Saph, Indian, Italian, Thai, Chinese, Japanese cuisines are all very anglocised to that point where they become quizines.. (:P)

Bumsby said...

I agree. I've never really eaten "Italian" outside the national borders.

I wonder if it's the same for other countries with a less famous culinary tradition... like UK or the US? I am not aware of anyone trying to reproduce British cuisine anywhere in the world (I've never heard of a "British" restaurant). As for the American, there are steak restaurants around, I wonder if they are any different from the American ones.

And a Big Mac and a Whopper should be the same everywhere, right?

Unknown said...

@Spanky, yes, the food is designed to appeal to its audience. But the UK is a hell of a lot healthier than the US, even now, because of UK/EU regulations governing content etc.

@Squeaky, not necessarily on the burgers. See above re: government regulations. The meat will most likely be of a somewhat better quality in the EU, as will the bun.

(Don't get me started on bread in this land of heathens....)

"because of UK/EU regulations governing content etc"... ooooh, listen to the comrade!!! j/k ;)

LOL, the heck of it is I can never follow any of the URLs you guys put in here, because they always get truncated.

:(

Bumsby said...

Multi-click on what you see until all gets selected, then click "copy". t will the copy the whole link, not just what you see ;)

Unknown said...

Ummm... actually no, it won't.

When I say truncated, I mean truncated, as in, not there.

Bumsby said...

I don't know, it works for me as I explained.

Spank said...

It does not always work for visitors to other peoples' blogs.
I've had problems with links too, which is why I mention it when people post links.
Usually I give up *shrug*

Here Sapph, look this up on amazon ;)
