YAY!

Tonight I went to the greatest party I've gone to in the last couple of years. Ok, I'm not exactly a party animal but this one was really cool. It was 1970s themed, everything was groovy and colorful. Most of my friends were dressed 1970s style, music was 1970s and my friend (the organizer) had even set up a tv with 1970s music videos. LOL. I alternated between taking pictures, dancing, singing/raving on the microphone, and dee-jaying. I had a great time! This weekend I'll go back to my friends to get all the photos, I want to post some. Btw usually I don't have much fun when I go to a party and don't know anyone, but I've known many people who were there for like 8 years. So it was also a great chance to see them again. It was perfect! I even got hit on by an American who spoke perfect Italian with a Spanish accent *scratches head* *shrug* He was very good at picking up accents. Too bad I'm not into men or one night stands (anymore). And too bad I'm not feeling very good healthwise, which together with the 5 pages report and the peer review I have to do this weekend, made me come back home earlier than I should.

I hope you all had a great night!

Hey Bums, are you going to post your own pictures from the party ??? *grins*

And what do you mean by "One Night Stands (Not Anymore)" ??? *scratches head*

Sounds like a great party! My sister threw a Barry Manilow birthday party once, which I heard was fabulous.

It's often nice to get hit on, even when you don't-wan't-to/can't do anything. At least he was good with languages! That's cool.

Oh btw, I am glad that you enjoyed the party *kisses Mommy Bumsby* *grins*

As for my night, it feels like summer here. I blew off work, stayed home and worked on a new painting.(I have another painting in progress, but I'm just not inspired by that one, so that sketch is incomplete and I don't want to work on it.)

The new one, however, is a good example of what happens when it's right. The sketch just flowed, even though I had to do it twice (I did it once, realized it would be better if I shifted the central figure 3cm to the left, and had to re-do all of it. I have a bad habit of sketching on canvas; I think most people sketch on paper and then transfer to the canvas.)

Anyway, I'm pleased with my progress and am looking forward to a day of painting tomorrow. Summertime.

sounds like a cool party bumsby althought i'm not into 70's *lol* (that's the age thing again i think :P )

and one-night stands are *rolleyes* - no more comment to that *haha*

glad you enjoyed the party :yeah:

@barbie: I would like to, but I'll try not to show pictures of myself (sometimes people were stealing the camera from my hands like "enough with you taking pictures of others, we need a picture of you, etc)

@everyone: in principle I have nothing against one-night stands; they can be good or can be bad depending on many factors / situations. If you wish we can have a detailed exchange about what factors. There was a phase in my life I used to indulge in "one-week stands" LOL but it's not like I chose it, it just happened. As much as I can say, safely, that I feel past that now.

@mary: actually he was a really good-looking guy, he reminded a bit of Moya... (!) and he was also a tough type given how he resisted my putdown conversations on cultural differences between Spain and the US, blablabla... LOL
but it's not always cool to be hit on, especially when it's 2 or 3... *tape* (but the others were not as good-looking and only spoke one language pfff yikes LOL j/k ;) )

Glad you're having a good painting day! It's satisfying when things come out the way you want, isn't it?

@nadl: nadl, it's not a matter of age, in the 70s I was three *rolls eyes* but I really like some of that music.

Btw another reason I need the photos is that I want to show them to some people at work who were making strange faces when I told them where my friend lived. They think if you live in that area you're automatically either a drug smuggler or a prostitute. It doesn't matter if my friend is a senator's assistant. Seeing there can be a difference would have clashed against their pre-existing beliefs and it would make them uncomfortable. Sometimes I think people like that live so well! But oh, how can one want to die remaining unaware of 99,99999999% of what the world can offer?!?!

Ok so here is my schedule for the rest of the day: phone call to mum for food matters (she came here the other day and brought me tons of food I have no idea about yet so I need a quick resume); finishing reading the article I have to review, lounging about in the house, and later go to my friend's house to burn the photos on a DVD.

Bumsby said...

I have to eat something btw... *plunges fork into truffle crepes* *slurp*

Nadl said...

atleast you had smth from the 70s :p

i got only the 90's and now 2000+ lol

and one-night-stands suck

Bumsby said...

:P at your age I was getting all A's rather than thinking about one-week stands! I guess with time you learn to contextualize and appreaciate bits of you life you couldn't handle before. I don't know, I told you, we can discuss this, rather than having a MY opinion vs. YOURS contest :P

Nadl said...

i got 2 within the last 1 1/2 month :/

and always the same
first they make you drunken
then they get what you want - and it was always so totally shitty
and then they never talk about it/talk to you again *haha*

Bumsby said...

It used to be the opposite for me. I always had to find a way to shake them off in the following days *rolls eyes* But I guess it depends on the people you attract. Mine are always little lambs... LOL

Nadl said...

i don't feel attracted to guys *haha*
but when i'm drunken (which happens fuckin often in the last 2 months) i feel attracted to everybody it seems *shrug*

Bumsby said...

Attracting someone doesn't mean you feel attracted to them, but that they feel attracted to you. Being drunk is another story. In fact I used to drink a lot during my "one-week stands" phase (with which, I repeat, I've been over and done with for years).

I tend to be careful in putting all men in the same boat, as if they were a race or something. There are actually a few guys who are, or at least seem, persons. But they're usually gays :P or have hidden male faults which will surface sooner or later. Hence the one-week duration...

And you must not put all women in the same category as well. And I don't like to think in terms of gender-based differences too much. There's so many aspects of people that are more important and end up being relevant.

Nadl said...

yeah i normally hat that "put them into a race" thing too, but if it happens often in a short time you start thinking *lol*

my ex-bf was the best bf you can dream of and he was def. not some of this kind! so i had luck with that one *lol* but only for 2 years now i turned into a desperate housewife it seems :P

but lately i like girls more than guys anways *lol*

Bumsby said...

I think Italians are ok in this respect. I don't know why, but Italian men have a good reputation worldwide. Maybe it's the Austrian? LOL I don't know. We have flocks of Scandinavian girls coming to Italy in the summer just to get it on with Italian men. And I've heard terrible things about British men *tape* (Now that I think about it, I once had an Austrian roommate who came to Italy basically for one reason *tape* and she couldn't stop going about the virtues of Italian men... *rolls eyes*)

On the other hand, I think our girls are the worst! Dang. I think they're spoiled by the men and they think they're so special because Italian men make women feel special.

Sadly, I don't have much good to say of Italian girls.

Nadl said...

oh and not only in my class *rolleyes* haha

I was saying, the other day I found out that 4 out of my 5 male colleagues are homophobes. Enough to make me want to fly away from Rome...

Bumsby said...

Move! Finish high school and join me in LA ;)

Nadl said...

jup i'll def. goin to LA!

theoretically when i finish school in 2 years and will be there as au-pair in 3years are u also there? :p

Bumsby said...

I don't know for sure if I'll be there in 3 years, but I hope so. Italy is becoming more and more "unbreathable" as we say :P

Bumsby said...

I'm going there this summer for sure and I've got a good chance of spending the next year there as well. But I wouldn't make long term prediction yet :)

Nadl said...

lol so if we both are in LA in 3 years we have to meet :p

deal?!

Nadl said...

are u goin to meet holly this year?

Bumsby said...

Deal! We're planning a little in advance. LOL.

It's weird that we have to travel 6.000 miles in 3 years to meet, when right now we're about 1.000 km apart though! Why don't people just come to visit Rome? Everyone always likes it as a tourist destination. :)

Bumsby said...

I should, yeah, I think so. But you never know what can happen at the last minute.

Nadl said...

rome

what can i see there, the pope? *lol*

why don't you visit vienna? it's a beautiful city tho :p

Nadl said...

well i wish you good luck then ;)

i guess if you're goin to meet her a 2nd time it can be smth serious =)

Bumsby said...

What do you mean something serious?!?! *cough* I hope we're not misunderstanding each other. But yeah, I hope we'll meet again, she's really cool.

Nadl said...

lol ok ;)

i think i misunderstood you but know i got it *haha*
i always need my time ;)

Bumsby said...

I didn't use the word "meeting" as an understatement; it's meant to be taken literally :P (another reason not to mention it on the forum: you never know what people might think).

She stayed here for quite a long time, so I had to find her a room (at a friend's friend's apartment) and we were hanging out with my close friends sometimes.

It was a very busy time for me, so we didn't go out as much as I would have liked, but I don't know, it feels like a real friend now. I guess it's a good thing when you can make the passage from online friend to real life friend. :)

Bumsby said...

Rome is great for tourists! In the summer you can go to many concerts. Btw I'm going to a great one next Monday. :)

I went to Vienna, actually I liked it very much. But I doubt I'll drop by it in the near future.

Anonymous said...

@nadl: if you want to make jokes about someone being old, you'll going after the wrong person--I'm way older than bumsby! I totally remember the 70s.

@bumsby: isn't holly not in LA anymore?

Nadl said...

lol sorry i misunderstood you ;)

yeah it's for sure good that you can meet ppl you are really close on the board!

i'm so happy that i've the chance to meet lena (and if it's only for a few hours) i have phoned with her a few times and it was always quiet funny! i mean she's 7 years older than me but she's as much childish as me so we turned into really good friends :D

sometimes i just think that it's really sad i doesn't have friends like her here (female friends i should say, my best (male) friend is amazing)

Bumsby said...

I also visited Bratislava and Brno. I think my artistic sense is very Mitteleuropean (Rilke's poems and Schiele's and Klimt's artwork). Not to mention Vienna's intellectuals of the end of the XIX century (and the birth of psychoanalysis). I used to say that if I could choose a place and a time to be born in, that would be XIX century's Vienna.

Nadl said...

@mary how old are u then  (if i'm allowed to ask of course :D )

Nadl said...

yeah vienna rocks *wuhuu*

Bumsby said...

@Mary: I think she'll go back by the summer. I mean that's the plan. I guess it can change any time.

Btw I think she liked my friends :) She was so kind and left presents for all of us before leaving (awwwww)

But in a way, we were lucky. You never know what you might bump into on the Internet. And the passage from online friendship to real life one is never to be taken for granted I guess :P

Nadl said...

yeah that's right!

you never can be sure of what u expect when u meeet someone from the internet

Anonymous said...

@nadl: 42.

Gotta run, folks. I need to clean my paint brushes and eat lunch.

Nadl said...

Bye Mary... have a good lunch *wave*

Nadl said...

are u goin out tonight bumsby?

Bumsby said...

I wanted to... but I fell asleep this afternoon and didn't finish what I had to do. I wanted to go to my friend's to get the photos from the party but I guess I'll postpone it to tomorrow *shrug*

Bumsby said...

Ok, I'd better go to finish my stuff, otherwise I might as well go out :P

BARBIE said...
